The European Conference on Computer Vision is one of the top international conferences on computer vision research. It was held every even year since 1990. ECCV 2012 Firenze is the 12th of the series. Previous editions were Antibes (France) 1990, Santa Margherita Ligure (Italy) 1992, Stockholm (Sweden) 1994, Cambridge (UK) 1996, Freiburg (Germany) 1998, Dublin (Ireland) 2000, Copenhagen<\/a> (Denmark) 2002, Prague<\/a> (Czech Republic) 2004, Graz<\/a> (Austria)\u00a02006, Marseille<\/a> (France) 2008, Crete<\/a> (Greece) 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n ECCV has an established tradition of high scientific quality, with double blind reviewing and very low acceptance rates (about 5% for\u00a0orals and 25% for posters in 2010). The conference has an overall duration of one week. The main conference\u00a0has a duration of four days\u00a0starting from the second and a single-track\u00a0format, with about ten oral presentations and one poster session\u00a0per day. Tutorials are held on the first\u00a0day, and Workshops on the last two days. Industrial exhibits and Demo sessions are also scheduled in the conference programme.\u00a0Since the Marseille edition it has become customary to invite an outstanding personality of the field\u00a0to give a one hour\u00a0lecture in the quality of honorary chair.\u00a0ECCV 2012\u00a0honorary chair is Tomaso Poggio,\u00a0following Jan J. Koenderink (2008) and Olivier Faugeras (2010).<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/strong>ECCV 2012 will follow the traditional format of the conference but will also introduce some novelties. These include\u00a0innovations in the\u00a0review policy<\/a>,\u00a0the creation of a “ECCV digital\u00a0library<\/a>” to serve as an historical and permanent repository of all\u00a0materials related to the conference, the publication in the conference booklet of all paper abstracts, and the full video recording of oral presentations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" History The European Conference on Computer Vision is one of the top international conferences on computer vision research.
