Each paper (oral, poster or demo) appearing in the ECCV 2012 technical program must be presented by an author at the Conference.
Oral Presentations
Each paper in an oral session is allocated 15 minutes. This includes time required for introduction of the speaker, as well as time for questions from the audience and from the conference Twitter channel. Therefore authors are advised to prepare a 12-minute talk and leave some time for questions at the end.
The lecture room will be equipped with a computer and a data projector. Files containing the presentations will be distributed to the computer in each room from a central server.
Authors need to copy their presentations to the central server (located in the Slide Room) at least 90′ in advance of the session in which their paper will be presented.
Oral presentations will be filmed by Videolectures. Please check the instructions to prepare the consent form.
The PCs that will be used for presentations are equipped with Microsoft Windows 7, Office 2007, Office 2010 and Acrobat Reader 9.
The formats that are allowed for presentations are Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt/.pptx) and Portable Document Format (.pdf); no other formats are supported (e.g. Apple Keynote). In both cases, if the authors have a video or an audio file embedded in the presentation we recommend to use a video and audio codec compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint. We suggest to check in the Microsoft compatibility page (Compatible multimedia file formats) if the formats are supported.
All presentations will be tested by our technical staff at the Slide Room before the deployment.
Authors needing any special audio or visual equipment must contact the Local Committee Chair Andrew Bagdanov by September 30, 2012 to indicate their request.
Presenters are requested to:
- be present at the podium (in the correct room) at least 10 minutes before the start of their session. Oral presenters should introduce themselves to the session chair as soon as they arrive.
- let the session chair know of any special assistance during their talk before the session.
Poster Presentations
Each paper in a poster session will be provided with a board that can hold a poster (portrait or landscape format) up to 200 cm width x 250 cm height (6.5 ft x 8.2 ft). Adhesive material will be provided for mounting the posters to the boards. There will be two poster rooms. There are several print/copy services nearby the conference venue. The booklet of the conference reports the maps of the rooms and for each poster there is a code that indicates the room and the board where it has to be shown. The code follows the schema:
- Sn-P1A…….n-P24A, i.e. Poster Session n; Room A; Poster Number 01…..24
- Sn-P1B…….n-P24B, i.e. Poster Session n; Room B; Poster Number 01…..24
A presenting author is expected to be available in front of the poster for the entire duration of the poster session. It is possible to submit a video spotlight that will be shown in advance of the session on screens distributed within Palazzo degli Affari and Palazzo dei Congressi. Interested authors should follow the instructions given in the call for video spotlights.
Presenters are requested to:
- be present at the poster location (in the correct room) at least 15 minutes before the start of their session. Presenters should post the poster and setup the equipment for the presentation before the start of their session.
- let the volunteers and local committee chair know of any special assistance required for their presentation before the session.
Demo and Industry Exhibit Presentations
Each paper in a demo session will be provided with a board that can hold a poster up to 100 cm width x 250 cm height (3.2 ft x 8.2 ft); the board can be provided, on request, to exhibitors. Adhesive material will be provided for mounting the posters to the boards. A desk of approx. 300 cm width x 200 cm length will be provided to hold a computer or any other equipment needed for the demo and for the exhibit. Each desk has a power socket.
Demo authors/exhibitors needing any special audio, visual, or other equipment to be used during their presentation must contact the Local Committee Chair Andrew Bagdanov by September 30, 2012 to indicate their request.
